Ajile Light Industries at Photonics West 2018 The team at Ajile is excited to be heading to San Francisco from January 27 to February 1 to exhibit at SPIE Photonics West 2018, for our third year at the world’s largest event for the laser and photonics industries. The program includes courses, seminars, research presentations, and training, plus thousands of exhibitors from dozens of countries at the main exhibition. Last year’s attendance topped 23,000, and the organizers at SPIE are anticipating a similar turnout at this year’s event. Of particular interest is the annual Conference on Emerging Digital Micromirror Device Based Systems…
Improved Imaging With Sub-Pixel Resolution
Sub-Pixel Resolution For Improved Image Quality As 3D imaging continues to become increasingly important in both research and industry, tools are becoming available to turn theoretical research into practical technology. Our systems are well positioned to do this, and we are now in the process of enabling sub-pixel resolution to achieve even higher levels of 3D image quality. A key limitation of optical instruments is the size of the sensor’s pixels. When features being imaged are smaller than the pixel size, typical responses are to use a more expensive sensor with more pixels per unit area or to modify the…
Ajile 10x Boost to Data Transfer Speeds With USB3.0
High Speed Data Transfer with AJD-4500-U and AJP-4500-U Ajile’s key strength lies in our products’ ability to create, control, and capture light at high speeds without sacrificing accuracy. We are pleased to announce an important step forward with the release of the AJD-4500-U and AJP-4500-U versions of our DMD controller and structured light projector this month. The -U versions feature USB3.0 data transfer at speeds exceeding 2000 binary frames/second. This upgrade lets users take full advantage of the high frame rates featured by Ajile’s DMD-based systems. Emerging developments in the realm of image processing depend on a constant flow of…
Machine Vision and 3D Imaging at Automate 2017
Automate is one of the world’s biggest events for businesses related to machine vision and automation. This year’s show is no exception with over 400 exhibitors and thousands of attendees descending on Chicago for the 4 day event. The event is a platform for companies to show off the latest in 3D imaging, robotics, machine vision, motion control, and other related technologies. It also features a variety of educational seminars and certification classes for industry professionals. At this year’s show, Ajile’s R&D team will be on the floor speaking with our existing partners while also looking for new technologies that…
Single-Pixel Camera Research at Photonics West 2017
Ajile Light Industries has been invited to present its research into a novel method of 3D calibration with a single-pixel camera at SPIE Photonics West 2017. The research was done in partnership with the University of Ottawa Paradise Research Laboratory and with the support of The National Research Council. This was part of a long-term NRC-IRAP project aimed at improving the accuracy of 3D imaging by using digital micromirror (DMD)-based imaging in scientific and industrial applications. The researchers determined that by using a single optical path to project and capture images, sources of error were reduced and accuracy improved. This was done…
DMD Structured Light at AIA Canadian Machine Vision 2016
Ajile CTO Jeremy Gribben has been awarded a speaking slot at the 2016 AIA Canadian Machine Vision Conference in Vancouver, Canada. This is AIA’s second Canadian event, and will feature industry experts from a variety of fields related to hardware and software in areas using structured light. These include robotics, sensors, inspection, machine learning, and medical imaging. Mr Gribben’s talk will focus specifically on the future of digital micromirror (DMD)-based systems, and the ways in which this technology can bring superior structured light projection to a broader market. He plans to discuss the advantages of DMD technology over other projection…
Ajile IRAP Grant for Development of 3D Multispectral Scanner
Ajile is pleased to announce the launch a new project to further develop its 3D imaging capabilities, with funding from the National Research Council of Canada via the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP). This support will contribute to the system’s improved speed and accuracy in a wide variety of applications, as well as an optimized optical design for improved performance. The project’s primary aim is to realize accurate full color 3D imaging in real time. IRAP is Canada’s premier innovation assistance program for small and medium-sized enterprises, and is widely respected globally as one of the best programs of…
